Domestic Chimney Sweeping

I am a Guild of Master Sweeps registered chimney sweep as well as NVQ qualified and HETAs registered

I sweep most domestic style chimneys and flue openings serving lined stoves and open fires found in most homes.

This includes a full sweep carried out to national standards and the issuing of an insurance industry-recognized Certificate of Sweeping from the Guild of Master Chimney Sweeps. Lined multi fuel stoves, wood burners and lined/unlined open fires all catered for. Each appointment last approx. 1 hour.

(Please note that if, during the sweep, I discover a bird's nest, then its removal is an extra, chargeable service, see 'bird nest removal' service below).

Unlined Stoves

These are multi fuel stoves and wood burners which are typically installed into masonry flues without a liner.

​

These types of flues should have sweeping access to conform to regulations. These can take a long time and often haven't been swept for many years on top of the register plate. This can and does pose a serious fire risk. Cleaning these is a slow and laborious process and difficult to keep the area completely clean

I try hard to keep the price according to my website charges but sometimes i have to charge a little more. , to cover my time. I charge price per post code area plus £35 per hour after that

After April 1st 2023 i will charge a 1 off fee of £35 on top of my post code area charge to clean these flues.

Pre-installation / Flue Closure Sweep

This is a sweep which takes place before a new appliance is fitted. This is to ensure the flue is clear of any

remaining soot deposits and, if a liner is being fitted, confirms both a clear passage and determines the

length of the flue.

In the event of a flue being closed off, this service helps reduce the risk of damp in the chimney caused

by a residual soot deposits in the flue.

Stove Servicing and Maintenance

Servicing covers a range of different aspects, including:

• Stove rope replacement

• Glass re-roping

• Fire cement around the top of stove 

• ​We can also supply and fit a new stove glass, firebricks and baffle plates where possible, all of theses are an add on price and vary according to make model and time spent.

Please note i check over a stove completely when i sweep, including checking the rope, glass and seals and fire bricks which is included in the price of the sweep.

Inglenook Open Fire Sweeping Service

Depending on the size of the opening into the room. Usually this means anything over 6ft in width

Please Note Because my partner Colin is no longer able to work with me i've taken the

decision to no longer offer the service of sweeping large historic chimneys above 15

meters or large inglenook chimneys

Commercial / Landlord Services

Bird's Nest Removal

All nest removals include camera inspection to confirm that the flue is clear of debris.

​

I follow government guidelines with respect to Bird nest removal. This states that nests cannot be removed

during the nesting season between March and September, unless the solid fuel appliance is the only form of

heating or

there is clear evidence that the nest has been abandoned.

I charge A full sweep , PLUS £35 one of fee for the wear and tear of my equipment ( which is substantial)

then £35 per hour on top of that if the nest is large and cannot be brought down in the allotted hour
